A Short Studying English Experience
at Pare
Pare is a district in Kediri regency, East Java Province.
Located 25 km Northeast of Kediri, or 120 km southwest of Surabaya. Pare
especially Tulungrejo Village is also known as a potential place for the
development of English classes. Currently, there are more popping up various
types of tutoring courses, especially English. More than 20 tutoring agencies
offer English classes or short courses during vacation. In this case, the town
of Pare as a center of learning English which are cheap, efficient and
effective had been known well all over the Java Island and even farther. As the
following associated effect, in Tulungrejo now appear various types of lodging
and boarding house that accommodates both students and workers. Boarding rates
per person vary from 50 thousand to 200 thousand per month.
In the end of 2010 year, some of my friend had properly
constructed to go to Pare, Kediri. Of course, we just have one purpose,
learning English. We know, we do not have good ability in using English.
Whereas, we need English for our lectures at University. Therefore, everyday,
we have to read so many journals that are used in the class. Therefore,
mastering English is just like our obligation.
In early January 2011, we went to Pare for a survey. We went
there by train from Gubeng Railway Station, Surabaya. We arrived there at 07.00
a.m. directly, we were looking for some course places that offered English,
French, and Chinese class. We went through Pare’s entire corner by bicycle. We
rented it for 5.000 thousand rupiahs per day. We spent 7 hours to find all of
the course places, boarding house and etc. At 4.00 p.m. We went back to
Surabaya by bus. That was very exhausting day.
In
the last week of January, precisely on 25 January, we went to Pare to start our
course. That was great. I found many new friends from entire places. I took
speaking and grammar classes. In my wish, I can speak English fluently or, at
least it can support my studying activities. I had to live there for a month. With
my great friends Amy, Ella, Henny, Azzah, Ita. Although I do not have
sophisticated ability, at least I have sophisticated experiences here. I rode a
bike in the dark night among sugar cane farm. I had to bike so far just to
withdraw my money in the ATM. I slept under the ducks smell almost every day. I
study in half-build class. I ate food with cheaper price than in Surabaya.
My speaking class was great too. We spoke about many things.
In the morning, we usually spoke about the art of speak such as linking sound,
American pronunciations, idiom, and many more. In the evening, we discussed or
debated something. That was very amazing. We spent our time, all day long, with
laugh and fun conversation.
